Amazing Peace: A Christmas Poem by Maya Angelou, Steve Johnson, and Lou Fancher
Amazing Peace: A Christmas Poem by Maya Angelou, Steve Johnson, and Lou Fancher
When Lydia was born, I started the tradition of buying a special Christmas book for her. This beautiful book was my pick this year.
I stood in the bookstore's children's area and read through it and by the end of the book, I had tears on my cheeks.
To quote:
Peace.
Come and fill us and our world with your majesty.
We, the Jew and the Jainist, the Catholic and the Confucian.
Implore you to stay awhile with us
So we may learn by your shimmering light
How to look beyond complexion and see community.
It's Christmas time, a halting of hate time.
On this platform of peace, we can create a language
To translate ourselves to ourselves and to each other.

My husband and I always buy each other Christmas books - this year, my choice is based on a poem by ee cummings. Yours sounds beautiful!
This looks beautiful - I'll have to check into it the next time I'm at our bookshop.
